Rita António, Vila Franca de Xira, 1996

Rita António is a portuguese graphic designer and illustrator, based inbetween Berlin, Brussels and Lisbon. She studied piano since very young, and continued to study arts and design once older, complementing school and university with workshops and Erasmus Exchanges.

Her passion is Illustration, where she gathers her own stories, drawings, design and printing techniques skills. Rita also takes production roles, where she mainly directs the image and design of the events or festivals, whilst taking care of the communication and production assistance. She is in charge for the all image of Operafest Lisboa, and was also in charge of all the image of FE - Festival Emergente 20 and Teatro o Bando. In 2021 was selected for an artistic residency in Berlin at Urban Nation Museum. At the moment, she is behind the image of the venue Miradouro de Baixo - Carpintarias de São Lázaro Rooftop, FE-Festival Emergente 23, Festival a Estrada, Operafest Lisboa and Celeiro Artist-in-Residency. She is doing her MA in Media and Information Design at LUCA School of Arts, Brussels.


Her work is marked by a rigorous and precise drawing, provocative and sometimes even shocking. Humor is always present. The colors (or sometimes the total absent of them) are transposed to the rest of her art and design, as noticeable in her graphic and moving image works.
